We are excited to share that this year will be the inaugural year for Limitless Chengdu, which will be located in the Erlang Mountain National Park, around 3.5 hours outside of Chengdu, Sichuan. The core elements of Limitless will all be present, but the focus will be slightly different. Rather than being solely focused on outdoor activities and experiences, this programme will also place emphasis on STEM, the creative arts, language, and cultural immersion.
The students will work with their groups to build towards a significant personal achievement, though the way in which they meet that outcome will lean on these broader themes, as well as on outdoor activities.
The Limitless Chengdu programme is an experiential learning journey designed around the five traditional Chinese elements (Wuxing: Metal, Wood, Fire, Earth, and Water). Each element corresponds to a specific core focus, cultural virtue, and set of interdisciplinary learning lenses—including Language & Culture, Ecology, The Arts, and Wilderness & Survival. Departing from conventional academic metrics like the IB Learner Profile, the curriculum anchors itself in the 12 Discoveries (such as tenacity, courage, self-awareness, and sustainability) to foster personal growth, resilience, and community building in an outdoor setting.
Over the course of six weeks, students progress through structured rotational challenges and community days before culminating in the Wuxing Project. During this final stage, student teams design and execute a self-directed, student-led project—such as trail maintenance, environmental surveys, traditional arts performances, or community service—that integrates their learning across all five elements. Their growth, reflections, and tangible project outcomes are documented and preserved in a Museum of Learning, leaving a lasting legacy for future cohorts.
